Cookie policy
This page lists every cookie and browser storage item mintsnimz.garden can set, what each one does, how long it lasts and how to refuse or remove it. There are no advertising cookies and no payment cookies — the tool is free and takes no payments. Last updated 1 January 2026.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a site stores on your device so it can recognise the browser on a later request. Related technologies — localStorage, sessionStorage and cache entries — do similar jobs without being cookies in the strict sense. UK and EU rules treat them the same way: anything that is not strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for requires your consent before it is set.
2. How consent works here
On your first visit a banner appears at the bottom of the page with three choices: Accept All, Reject Non-Essential and Preferences. Nothing beyond the essential items below is stored until you make a choice. Your choice is recorded in localStorage so the banner does not reappear on every page. To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser and reload; the banner will return.
3. Essential
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
mintsnimz_cookie_choice | localStorage | Records whether you accepted, rejected or customised cookies, so the banner is not shown again | Until cleared |
mintsnimz_form_token | Session cookie | Anti-abuse token attached to brief form submissions | Browser session |
mintsnimz_auth | First-party cookie | Keeps you signed in to your free account after you open a one-time sign-in link, so the generator knows whose briefs to show | 30 days, or until you sign out |
The sign-in cookie is only set once you actually use a sign-in link. Browsing the guides does not require an account and sets no authentication cookie at all.
4. Analytics
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
mintsnimz_visit | First-party cookie | Distinguishes a returning browser from a new one so page counts are not double-counted | 12 months |
mintsnimz_session | Session cookie | Groups page views within one visit to show which guides are read together | 30 minutes of inactivity |
Analytics here is limited to aggregate counts: pages viewed, referring source and approximate country derived from IP address. We do not build cross-site profiles and we do not pass analytics data to advertising networks.
5. Functional
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
mintsnimz_theme | localStorage | Remembers a chosen contrast or theme preference between visits | Until cleared |
mintsnimz_draft_brief | localStorage | Keeps an unfinished brief form on your device so it is not lost on reload | 7 days |
Refusing functional storage does not break anything: the site simply forgets your preferences and any unsent draft between visits, and you can still sign in and generate systems as normal.
6. Third-party cookies
This site loads no third-party advertising, social or tracking scripts, and no payment or checkout widget, so no third party sets a cookie through it. Images in the guides are served from an external placeholder image service, which receives the standard request information any image host receives — IP address, user agent and referring page — but sets no cookie on this domain. If we ever embed a third-party widget, this policy will be updated before it goes live.
7. How to control cookies in your browser
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, and Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data to clear existing items.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data, where you can clear data or manage exceptions per site.
- Safari (macOS): Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data; Safari on iOS: Settings app → Safari → Advanced → Website Data.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.
Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window that discards all storage when the window closes. Note that blocking all cookies site-wide will also remove the consent record and sign you out, so the banner will reappear and you will need a fresh sign-in link on each visit. Detailed, current instructions are maintained by each browser vendor in their own help documentation.
8. Changes and contact
When we add, remove or change the purpose of an item listed here, we update this page and reset stored consent so that you are asked again. For questions about cookies or to request a copy of the data associated with an identifier, contact [email protected]. The wider picture of how we handle personal data is set out in the privacy policy.
